Description
Leo Kwartler was born in Galicia in 1901 in the beautiful Carpathian Mountains on the Hungarian border. At the beginning of World War I, with the Russian Army approaching from the east, Kwartler's widowed mother took her four children and fled along with thousands of other Jewish families in fear for their lives.
